功夫(Kong Fu)是中国武术(martial arts)的俗称。中国武术的起源可以追溯到自卫的需要，狩猎活动以及古代中国的军士训练。它是中国传统体育运动的一种，年轻人和老年人都练。它已逐渐演变成了中国文化的独特元素。作为中国的国宝，武术有上百种不同的风格，是世界上练得最多的武术形式。有些风格模仿了动物的动作，还有一些则受到了中国哲学思想，神话和传说的启发。
参考答案： Kung Fu is the common name of Chinese martial arts. The origin of Chinese Kung Fu can date back to the need of self-defense, hunting activities and military training in ancient China. It is one of the Chinese traditional sports, which is practiced by both the young and the old. It has gradually evolved into a unique element in Chinese culture. As a national treasure, Kung Fu has hundreds of styles, which is the most practiced martial arts form around the world. Some features imitate the animal actions and others are enlightened by Chinese philosophy thoughts, myths and legends.
解题思路：
第一句中，“中国武术的”是 “俗称”的定语，用“of”结构处理。“俗称”可译为common name或folk saying。
第二句中，“追溯到”可译为date back to或be traced back。译文语序可和原文语序保持一致。
第三句由两个短句组成。译文将“它是中国传统体育运动的一种”译作句子的主干，“年轻人和老年人都练”译作It的定语从句。用被动语态表达。“练武术”可用practice来表达。
